What is Dichroic Glass

My Dichroic Glass Pendant are handmade in my Art Glass Studio.

Each piece is hand cut glass. It is then fused in my kiln at 1550 degrees. It is cooled or annealed over night in the kiln for durability.  Sometimes is it fired more than once for the final finished piece.  Due to the variations in the firing process, individual results can never be exactly reproduced; each piece of fused dichroic glass is unique and one of a kind. It is then cleaned and ready for jewelry.

Dichroic glass is a glass containing multiple micro-layers of rare metal oxides that are evaporated on to the surface of a piece of glass in a vacuum chamber . NASA developed dichroic glass for use in satellite mirrors. Dichroic glass is one of the most expensive glasses on the market today.

I hope you enjoy the craftsmanship and love put into each piece designed especially with you in mind.
